About this website

Accessibility statement

NPO EURASIA is working to make this website usable by as many people as possible, regardless of disability, age or the device you use. This page explains the standard we aim to meet, what we have checked and how, known limitations, and how to contact us.

1. The standard we aim to meet

We aim to meet Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. These international guidelines on web accessibility are published by W3C, the organization that develops web standards.

This statement does not claim that the website currently conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We will continue to make improvements towards that goal, guided by the results of our checks.

2. Scope

This statement covers the Japanese pages on npoeurasia.org and their translations into 11 languages. It does not cover pages provided by external services, such as donation payment pages.

3. What we have checked and how

When we change how the website looks, we run the following automated checks.

  • We use the automated testing tool axe-core to run checks relating to WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 at Levels A and AA, at screen widths of 375px and 1280px.
  • We check that images have alternative text (an alt attribute) and that each page has exactly one main heading, a title and a description.
  • We check that no content extends beyond the screen horizontally in three browsers (Chromium, Firefox and WebKit), at seven screen widths ranging from 320px to 1920px.
  • We check that on-screen motion stops when the device’s reduced motion setting is enabled.
  • We check that the main text and links to donate remain readable when JavaScript is not running.
  • We use Google Lighthouse to check accessibility scores for the main pages.

Automated tests can check only some of the WCAG 2.2 success criteria. Passing these tests does not mean that the website conforms to WCAG.

We also visually review screenshots of pages at smartphone and computer screen widths. We have not yet carried out user testing with people with disabilities or checked every page using assistive technologies such as screen readers.

4. Known limitations

  • Our activity reports use content written in WordPress. Photos in these articles may not have alternative text describing their content. Screen readers may be unable to read text within images or documents attached to articles.
  • Videos in articles play on YouTube and may not have captions.
  • External services, including Stripe for donation payments, Syncable, CAMPFIRE, SoftBank’s “Tsunagaru Bokin” and PayPay, provide their own pages and interfaces. We cannot change these, so their accessibility depends on the steps each company takes.
  • Our contact form runs on WordPress and uses Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam submissions. If you have difficulty using the form, please email us.
  • The contact form is available in Japanese only. To contact us in another language, please email us.

5. Feedback and contact

Please let us know if you find anything difficult to use or any information you cannot read. You can also ask us about receiving information in another format.

We will use your feedback to improve the website.
