Fire engines leave for Ukraine: from Okayama, made possible through partnership

Official document on the fire pump trucks provided by Okayama Prefecture to support Ukraine

On May 27, fire engines left Mizushima Port in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, as part of support for Ukraine.

Their destination is Odesa, a port city in southern Ukraine. The humanitarian situation there remains severe, and strengthening medical and disaster-response infrastructure is an urgent need.

This support was made possible by the cooperation and hard work of many organizations.

First, the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan quickly identified and coordinated the needs on the ground and gave the support a clear direction. We are deeply grateful for its precise and dedicated work as a bridge for humanitarian aid.

Okayama Prefecture and several municipalities in the prefecture also provided fire engines and helped with the procedures, making this contribution from our region to the international community possible.

NPO EURASIA handled transport to Ukraine and coordination, working with the organizations involved so that the support ran smoothly. We will keep working, with a medium- to long-term view, to build a system for ongoing support.

The shipment was handled by Kamigumi Co., Ltd. Thanks to its fast and safe international transport, the shipment set off without a hitch from Mizushima Port for Odesa, Ukraine. We have the deepest respect for its reliable skill and experience.

Support like this, with diplomacy, government, private companies and nonprofits working together as one, is what international cooperation that protects lives looks like. Building on this partnership, we will keep our support going.
