Featured in the Asahi Shimbun: Okayama Prefecture provides an ambulance and a fire engine to Ukraine

Send-off ceremony at the Okayama Prefectural Government for the ambulance and fire engine bound for Ukraine (September 2024)

Hello, everyone!

Okayama Prefecture has decided to provide Ukraine with an ambulance (model year 2010) and a fire engine carrying a small portable pump (model year 1998), and a send-off ceremony was held at the Okayama Prefectural Government on September 4. The Asahi Shimbun reported on this support, and we would like to share it with you.

The article describes how this support came about, the send-off ceremony, and our role at NPO EURASIA as the coordinating point of contact on the Japanese side.

This support began with a lecture by the Ambassador of Ukraine in Okayama in June last year. On learning that Ukraine was short of ambulances, Okayama Prefecture called on the municipalities in the prefecture, and many organizations offered to help. This led to the current vehicle donation, and 8 organizations in the prefecture have offered a total of 14 vehicles.

The vehicles will leave Mizushima Port in mid-September and are expected to arrive in Ukraine around mid-November. They will then be used in Borodianka, near the capital, Kyiv, to transport the injured and in rescue work.

We at NPO EURASIA have long provided medical supplies to Ukraine and supported evacuees. This vehicle donation is part of that work, and we will keep doing all we can to support Ukraine.

Please consider a donation to support the work of NPO EURASIA.
