# NPO EURASIA | Ambulances and fire engines from Okayama, Japan to Ukraine

# Second lives for Japanese ambulances and fire engines, in Ukraine.

NPO EURASIA is a nonprofit in Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan. With the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan, it delivers ambulances and fire engines donated by municipalities in Okayama Prefecture to towns in Ukraine, together with medical supplies such as tourniquets.

## What we do

When a municipality in Okayama Prefecture retires an ambulance or a fire engine, the vehicle can go on serving in Ukraine. We handle the export procedures and the sea transport, and hand the vehicles over to Ukrainian municipalities. We also send medical supplies such as tourniquets.

Vehicles have come from Maniwa, Kurashiki, Kasaoka, Tsuyama and Akaiwa, and from the Kasaoka District Fire Department Association. They now serve towns in the Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernivtsi, Mykolaiv and Khmelnytskyi regions.

## Working with Okayama Prefecture and the Embassy of Ukraine

- On 16 August 2024, Okayama Prefecture and the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan signed a memorandum on providing fire engines and other vehicles.

- On 17 January 2025, the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan designated NPO EURASIA to handle the overseas transport of emergency vehicles provided by municipalities in Okayama Prefecture.

- Every shipment leaves Japan with an export permit.

## How you can help

Delivering one vehicle to Ukraine costs about ¥1.5 million in shipping and export procedures. Donations pay for delivering ambulances and fire engines to Ukraine, and for medical supplies such as tourniquets.
